From an early age I’ve had two passions – God and sport. My vision is to race at the 2012 London Olympics and being open about my faith on the biggest stage possible. Running the race (of life) with God is what I’m all about. For as long as I’m in this race, I’ll be running with the Spirit. I was a sporty kid, trying my hand at anything and everything although I could never run very fast! I swam for Yeovil Swim Club (I was a breaststroke swimmer, hence my freestyle kick is shocking!) until I was 12, when I had to make a decision to either swim or play cricket; I chose cricket! After playing cricket for 4 years, I suffered a knee injury. The physiotherapist I saw for this injury introduced me to the world of Triathlon, and after one race I was hooked! This led to joining and training with Somerset RC Tri at the weekends and training on my own in the week. After sixth form and a gap-year I got accepted by the University of Bath to study HND in Sports Performance and Coach Education. This meant I could train with the TeamBath Triathlon squad alongside studying. Having completed the HND in 2005 I started work at the Royal United Hospital in Bath which meant I could fit work around training. As my training increases I am currently looking for sponsorship to enable me to train full-time. Click here if you would like to know more about sponsoring me.
Audience of One
I grew up in a Christian family, and gave my life to God when I was about 10. I never really turned away from God through my teenage years, but for a couple of those years my main reason for going to church was to see the girls (or girl!). My walk with God really kicked off when I came to Bath, where I joined Bath City Church and within a year or so God had called me into the area of worship leading. I taught myself the acoustic guitar, having already got to grade 5 piano when I was 14. My passion for God and my passion for sport go hand in hand. If I’m not at God’s side, I’m not running. If you would like to know more about how God has changed my life please email me.
